Aftercare Guide

You sat like a champ, now heal like a pro

  • The success and longevity of a tattoo depends not only on the correct application but also the wearer’s commitment to following healing guidelines in the days and weeks after your appointment.

  • After your tattoo, a second skin bandage will be applied to the affected area, protecting your tattoo from outside interference (no more clothing sticking to a fresh tattoo!)

  • Keep the second skin bandage on your tattoo for five days. You can safely wash the bandaged area in the shower but do not soak or submerge it in the bathtub.

  • Blood and plasma may collect under the bandage—this is normal. Your body will re-absorb this fluid as you heal.

  • On the fifth day, remove the bandage in the shower. Peel it off from the top down, slowly and gently, under warm, running water.

  • Wash your tattoo gently with soap, removing any ink, dried fluid, or adhesive that may have collected under the bandage.

  • Pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel and apply a water based, non-perfumed lotion like Aquaphor, Glaxal Base, or Vaseline Intensive Care.

  • Moisturize your tattoo as needed. Your tattoo may scab, flake, and become itchy a this stage as it heals. Most importantly, do not scratch or pick at your tattoo.

  • I will say it again: DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT SCRATCHING OR PICKING AT YOUR TATTOO! :-)

  • After the bandage has been removed, you can wash the tattoo once daily in the shower with a gentle soap. Avoid soaking, swimming, and direct sun exposure until it has fully healed.

  • The tattoo healing process typically lasts 4-8 weeks but is unique from person to person

  • Take care of your tattoo and it will be beautiful for the years and decades to come. Any questions or concerns, just let me know!
